It's already been a month!?

Yesterday I was featured in a Bret Easton Ellis-inspired selection of items from Etsy on We Heart This. Lookin' good...thanks!

Sooooo, obviously I've let the ol' blog fall by the wayside. Between moving to a new apartment and starting Montessori teacher training, and trying to balance in enjoying the summer, it's just not happening. Maybe I'll get up the gumption here and there to share something, but for the next 8-ish weeks I'm' going to have to bid you adieu. Hope all is well with you!

Steve Seeley

I promise he paints more than bears... ..but there are a lot of bears.

Hollie Chastain's mixed media

I'm smitten with the colorful additions to vintage images and ephemera in Hollie Chastain's work. She sells prints on Etsy and maintains a blog and flickr full of inspirations.

Sayaka Kajita Ganz

Using discarded mundane objects, Sayaka Kajita Ganz creates amazing sculptures full of movement...like these horses. "The human history behind these objects gives them life in my eyes. My goal is for each object to transcend its origins by being integrated into an animal form that seems alive....By building these sculptures I try to understand the human relationships that surround me...even if some people don’t feel at home here and now, there is a place where they belong and that they will eventually find it."

Julie Morstad

Oh, so lovely illustrations from Julie Morstad. Her line-work is reminiscent of Carson Ellis but with brighter splashes of color.

Jen Mann

Really, truly love these inviting paintings from Jen Mann's Fera series.

FRÉDÉRIC NOËL

Among other things, FRÉDÉRIC NOËL does some sweet intricate pen-on-disposable-plate illustrations.

Amanda Wachob's fine tattoo work

From trained artist, check out her portfolio here, to amazing tattoo artist....Amanda Wachob creates tattoos infused with a fine art aesthetic. Gazing at her work inspires me to reconsider having a few of my own!

new from the Selby

You're probably already familiar with the Selby, but if you don't receive updates via email or in your reader of choice I'd say you should scoot on over to catch up. The newest addition to their series represents the exquisite corpse of a home belonging to artists Jessica Grindstaff & Erik Sanko.  It's a wunderkammer reminiscent of a brightened Brothers Quay film set. Le sigh.
